Alex Hales, a key player in England’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad, today announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Hales’ international career spans nearly 12 years. He played an important role in taking the England team to the finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. India’s dreams of reaching the final were dashed due to his powerful innings. (T20 Cricket)

Alex Hales made his T20 International debut in 2011 against India. He has played 75 T20Is, 70 ODIs and 11 Tests for England in his 12-year career. But he got special success in T20 cricket. He batted aggressively in T20. In 2012, he was just 1 run away from scoring his maiden T20 century for England.

Alex Hales ended his career as a T20 World Cup winning player. He contributed a lot in the 2022 T20 World Cup which was won by England. He scored an unbeaten 86 in the semi-final match against India. England reached the final on the strength of his innings.

But Hales could not play for the England team that won the 2019 ODI World Cup. He had to sit on the bench and watch his teammates lift the trophy after he failed a drug test…
Hales has made two big innings for England in ODIs. England had built a mountain of 444 runs against Pakistan in 2016. Hales scored 171 runs in it. In 2018, England scored 481 runs against Australia. Hales had a share of 147 runs in it.

Hales was once the number one T20 batsman in the world. He has played a total of 405 T20 matches for 10 franchises and England so far in his career. He has scored more than 11 thousand runs in it. His strike rate is 147.
