After trailing 1-3 at half-time, India scored two goals in a minute and a decisive goal in the last minute to defeat Malaysia 4-3 and win the Asian Champions Hockey Tournament for the fourth time.

India, who remained undefeated throughout the tournament, thrashed Malaysia 5-0 in the league match, but had to fight hard for the title in today’s final. All the four goals scored by India today were scored by different players.

Jugarag Singh, captain Harmanpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh and Akashdeep Singh scored the goals. The goals scored by Harmanpreet and Gurjant Singh within a minute proved to be India’s lifeline.

The confidence of the Indian team, who thrashed Japan 5-0 on Friday, was high for today’s final match. The match started brilliantly and Jugraj scored a goal in the ninth minute.

India then got a penalty corner; But nothing was going on. Malaysia had strengthened their defense today from the experience of the league match. Meanwhile, captain Harmanpreet Singh was trying; But there was no success.

Abu Arzi opened Malaysia’s account in the 14th minute. Malaysia then scored two more goals in the next 12 minutes to take a 3-1 lead at the break.

The Indian team was under pressure after trailing by two goals, but when Harmanpreet and Gurjant Singh scored in the 45th minute, the stadium erupted into jubilation. The scoreboard was tied at 3-3.

Indians were putting more pressure to score the decisive goal. Meanwhile, Harmanpreet missed an opportunity; But Akashdeep Singh scored in the 56th minute to give India a 4-3 lead.

In the next four minutes of play, the Indians stepped up their attack, giving Malaysia no chance to respond.
